Parshat Bo (Go)

The Torah portion is Bo, Exodus 10:1-13:16. In synagogues using the Triennial system, 5784 is year 2 and the Torah reading is Exodus 11:4-12:28.

The Plagues in Egypt worsen: Locusts, Darkness. The rules of the Pesach sacrifice are laid out and the people are told to put some of the blood of the sacrifice on their doorposts and G-d will pass over (pasachti) the houses with blood on the doorposts in the final Plague, the Death of the Firstborn. Rules of future Pesachs are laid out. After the deaths, Egypt lets the People go and they leave Egypt with valuable parting gifts.

The haftarah is Jeremiah 46:13-46:28. As in the Torah portion, bad things are coming for Egypt, but the House of Jacob will be delivered.
