Parshat Noach (Noah)

The Torah portion is Noach, Genesis 6:9-11:32. In synagogues using the Triennial system, 5782 is year 3 and the Torah reading is Genesis 11:1-11:32.

This portion covers a large swath of early history, from Noah and the Flood to the arrival of Abraham and his family in Canaan.

The haftarah is Isaiah 54:1-55:5. This begins "Sing, o barren one," which reminds us of Sarah's barrenness in the Torah portion. It also mentions the waters of Noah, another reference to the Torah portion.

In synagogues using the Sephardic tradition, the Haftarah is Isaiah 54:1-10.
